You can fly if you try!

About Five years ago my In laws, (Scott and Cheryl) gave me a shiny new sewing machine for Christmas! I was so excited to sew something, anything really I didn't care what!!  I headed down to the Walmart and bought some of their cheap dollar a yard fabric to test out my sewing skills. (I was like a kid in a candy store!) Only to find I had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING! Although I had grown up around sewing machines, I was Clueless! My Mother had her own line of children's clothing and had a sewing room built at our house. I had played in the scraps of fabrics I would find in the garbage cans. Although they were not very large it worked perfect for Barbies new stylish clothing! I learned to tape, sew, tie and "rig"  her fancy new clothing onto her! I have since learned you can not tape and tie things together as I once thought I could. I have practiced and practiced over the past five years and I can now say I can sew a straight line! LOL! My Mother-in-law Cheryl has taught me a lot over the years and has given me so many fabrics and sewing notions. And any time I say I can't do that, she tells me "sure you can!" She has brought out a crafty side of me five years ago I'm not sure I even knew I had.  I love that Cheryl and I share this Hobby! Thank you Cheryl for all your patients, love, support, and generosity!
I have learned over the years there are so many people that "think" they are not able to do crafty things. But in reality they haven't even tried! Never say you "can't" until you try! So many of my first project were garbage can worthy, but those awful mistakes got me to be where I am now in my crafting and sewing.  So throw away your thoughts of I can't do that. And try something, you just might surprise yourself!  It's ok to make those garbage can worthy things, thats how you learn! So put to rest your "I can'ts" and get out a huge bucket of "I CAN!"

  1. My first sewing machine arrived this last Christmas! I've made two pairs of pajama pants, and I've fooled around with other things. I'm starting to think I can do this!!
